Street Child is one of the UK’s fastest growing international development charities and believes that achieving universal basic education is the single greatest step that can be taken towards the elimination of global poverty. Founded in 2008 with a single project for 100 street-connected children in Sierra Leone, Street Child now operates in 10 of the world’s toughest countries and has transformed educational opportunities for 200,000 children with a focus on gender parity.

Street Child is especially recognised for (1) its ability to create impact in the toughest environments; (2) its focus on working with outstanding local organisations; (3) designing programmes that address social, economic and educational barriers to children’s learning and wellbeing; and (4) its ability to implement complex projects on scale.
