OUR OPPORTUNITIES
Papua New Guinea (PNG) is our closest neighbour and an important partner for Australia. The Attorney-General’s Department (AGD) partners with PNG law and justice institutions as part of Australia’s overall support to the law and justice sector. As part of this, senior Australian Government officials are placed in the PNG Office of the Public Prosecutor (OPP) to help build the capacity of the lawyers in the OPP, and the systems and capabilities of the organisation itself. They do so by supporting the office leadership to develop and achieve their vision and plans, and mentor, support and coach prosecutors to build their advocacy, management and case management skills and conduct their work efficiently, skillfully, fairly and ethically.
The Governments of PNG and Australia are seeking applications from experienced prosecutors (advocacy experience is necessary) to fill two Senior Prosecution Adviser positions in the OPP:
- Senior Prosecution Adviser (Serious Crime and Dishonesty)
- Senior Prosecution Adviser (Proceeds of Crime and General Prosecutions)
The positions will require relocation to Port Moresby and will likely include provincial travel within PNG. These vacancies are non-ongoing positions for deployment to PNG with an initial duration of 18 months, with possible extension up to a total of three years. The projected start date for both positions is mid-2017.
The remuneration package includes housing, a vehicle, school fees and a range of other allowances commensurate with the living and working conditions in Port Moresby.
