Senior Finance Manager, West Africa (role based in Dakar, Senegal)
The starting salary package for this position is £53,882 GBP per annum (approx. $67,562 USD) including all allowances.
About the role:
As the Senior Finance Manager for the Sahel & West Africa region at MAG, and as part of the Regional Senior Management Team (SMT), your primary purpose will be to support the Regional Director in the financial management of multi-country, multi sub-region projects, ensuring compliance with internal policies, donor requirements and local regulations. You will play a pivotal role in providing financial leadership, strategic guidance, and technical support to the region, fostering transparency, integrity, accountability, and effective financial management practices. Your responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, risk management, capacity development, and developing strong relationships with key stakeholders. Through your expertise and dedication, you will contribute to the achievement of MAG’s vision and mission. The role is based in Dakar, Senegal.
About you:
You will have significant and progressive experience in financial management, ideally in International Aid and Development with an NGO, and across a multiple grant portfolio. You will also have proven experience of working with voluntary funds and a good understanding of donor budgeting and reporting requirements. A professional accounting qualification, such as ACA, CIMA ACCA or equivalent is highly desirable.
You will be experienced in financial planning, monitoring, forecasting, and reporting; and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of developing complex new business proposal budgets. Additionally, you will have managed and built the capacity of a finance team.
You will be committed to high quality standards and be able to demonstrate the ability to report in a timely and accurate manner. You’ll have the ability to work independently and build excellent working relationships with diverse stakeholders. You must be proactive, with a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work, and have proven ability to lead, manage, motivate, and develop a team.
Fluency in French and English is required.

- Salary: £53,882 GBP per annum including all allowances and this increases with service.
- Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
- Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You’ll have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year.
- Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year.
- Insurance: Programme based staff are automatically covered by MAG’s comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance.
