JSI Research and Training Institute, Inc (JSI), a Boston-based public health management firm dedicated to providing high quality technical and managerial assistance to public health programs throughout the United States and the world, is currently recruiting for a Senior Advisor (Health Systems Strengthening) for the anticipated USAID-funded Strengthening Local Level Health Systems Activity (SLLHS) in Bangladesh. The SLLHS Activity will be expected to improve health outcomes for all by addressing the gaps preventing local level health systems from delivering high quality and integrated public health services. This Activity will work with local level health authorities (e.g. district and lower health administrators, facility managers, etc.) to support the development and implementation of targeted, evidence-based health systems strengthening interventions at the district level and below.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Technical Advisor– Health Systems Strengthening will be responsible for leading and designing strategies for effective implementation of maternal, newborn, and child health strategies; family planning; nutrition; and tuberculosis (policies, strategies, guidelines, and standards) for collaboration and coordination among key stakeholders including the MOFW, civil society, private sector, and other donors. S/he will be responsible for developing technical contents, strengthening systems that deliver quality health services, improving monitoring, supervision, and reporting efficiencies. The Technical Advisor will lead the design and implementation of activities to reach its goal. S/he should be acquainted with local epidemiological context, able to quickly analyze the epidemiological trend, identify the gaps, and develop an action plan. S/he should liaise with local and national government counterparts, engage in local level planning, provide necessary guidance, capacity building, ensure that activities are evidence-based, adapted to local context, and reflect state-of-the-art knowledge and best health system programming practices in Bangladesh. The position holder shall have the following qualification as detailed below:
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s in medicine, Masters or higher degree in public health.
- Experience working in maternal, newborn, and child health; nutrition; epidemiology; and program development.
- Demonstrated technical expertise to lead a diverse team in similar programs in the region.
- Minimum eight years’ relevant experience with USAID or other USG or donor funded health programs.
- Professional experience interacting with host country governments and counterparts, international donor organizations, civil society, and private sector.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and English language oral presentation skills.
Salary commensurate with experience.
