Description
This position is designed to provide a breadth of exposure to multiple areas of domestic public health for a recent graduate or early career professional looking to launch a career in public health, health policy, or a related field. For this role, we are looking for someone who embraces opportunities for growth and thrives in roles of responsibility with quick turnaround times. All staff members work across multiple projects simultaneously with a high-level of individual accountability, discretion and independent judgment. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and implement daily project activities focused on training and technical assistance, program evaluation, and/or policy including
- handling logistics of project events (interviews, meetings, trainings, workshops, webinars);
- monitoring and summarizing relevant public health and health policy news to alert internal teams to key issues;
- conducting background research through web and literature searches;
- summarizing and synthesizing project activities through notetaking, activity progress reports, and project tracking; and
- cyclical review and updates to internal- and external-facing project materials (e.g., tools, resources, documents, websites).
- Contribute to policy, evaluation, technical assistance and training deliverables, including:
- conducting background research;
- coordinating and implementing qualitative activities (e.g., focus groups, key informant interviews);
- synthesizing findings, including performing coding, analysis, and writing;
- drafting outlines, products and reports (e.g., creating slide decks, fact sheets, e-learning materials, evaluation reports, policy analyses)
- materials design and editing, including review for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (Section 508)
- Interface with clients and partners around external-facing project activities, including:
- connecting with individual grantees in the areas of data management and utilization;
- coordinating with partners around shared project or business development deliverables;
- presenting work products to internal and external partners;
- managing technical details including planning and real-time troubleshooting to support in-person and virtual events ranging from small capacity building consultations to large-scale national meetings.
- Contribute to business development for new projects including: searching for and disseminating information about new business development opportunities through a Salesforce database; coordinating internal proposal development efforts; completing delegated tasks such as developing proposal sections related to personnel and organizational capacity; and contributing research to technical proposals.
- Represent JSI with external audiences, including: Networking with external partners and clients; promoting JSI programs and thought leadership through social media, blog posts;
- Participate actively in internal community-building activities.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Education + Experience: Bachelor’s degree (No Master’s-level or PhD-level candidates, please)
- Interest in domestic public health and health policy
- Commitment to advancing health and racial equity
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple work streams with minimal supervision
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative, hybrid team.
- Ability to conduct and synthesize online research from multiple sources
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate to diverse audiences on a variety of platforms
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to conduct and synthesize online research from multiple sources
- Proficient in MS Office programs (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Google products (Drive, Gmail, Docs)
- Ability to quickly learn new technology platforms (Zoom, Slack, Mural, etc.)
Preferred:
- At least one year work experience in public health or publicly funded health care
- Proficiency in languages other than English
- Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis
- Data visualization and/or graphic design skills
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Proficiency with website content management (Drupal) or email marketing platforms (MailChimp)
