The USAID-funded Enhance Activity in Thailand, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting applications for a Program Assistant. This position will be located in the main project office in Bangkok.
Position Description/Summary:
The Program Assistant (Bangkok) is responsible for providing programmatic and administrative support of program mainstreaming and implementing citizen-centric local governance and civil society involvement in local governance, working with local government counterparts and non-governmental stakeholders in the USAID Enhance Activity’s target areas. The Program Assistant will support work towards all Activity objectives and performs a variety of programmatic coordination and logistical services in support of the implementation of the Activity, including assisting with information management within the team.
Responsibilities:
* Support USAID Enhance implementation across its objectives (e.g., assist in developing scopes of work and work plans and other activities);
* Provide support in developing and maintaining contact, collaborative, and productive relationships with key stakeholders in priority USAID Enhance locations (in the Deep South, North and Northeast);
* Assist the Government Liaison Specialist and the technical teams in liaising and coordinating with government counterparts to support the implementation and monitoring of the activities in the USAID Enhance’s target localities;
* Under the guidance of the supervisor, assemble briefing materials and prepare power-point and other presentations for meetings, workshops, and events;
* Provide support in coordination of the Technical Advisory Group and other meetings, workshops and events organized with government counterparts;
* Coordinate and process official invitations for government counterparts for meetings, workshops, seminars, etc.;
* Provide administrative and logistical assistance of program activities, including arranging training and workshops, convening meetings, processing participant per diems, identifying consultants, drafting, and organizing invitations, data collection and other tasks as needed;
* Draft correspondences and provide notetaking at key meetings and workshops, data collection for reports, and other administrative support as needed to support the implementation of the USAID Enhance Activity;
* Assist with the development of program materials; and
* Ensure compliance of project operations with USAID, and Tetra Tech Home Office administrative policies and guidelines.
Qualifications:
* Degree in political science, public administration, social science, or a related field;
* 1-3 years of experience implementing local administration, citizen participation, or governance programming in Thailand;
* Good understanding of the works and procedures of the Royal Thai Government and proven success in liaising with local administration structures, minority communities, and government bodies in Thailand;
* Demonstrated ability to work in partnership particularly with government stakeholders to build relationships and maintain networks;
* Experience in managing grants to non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academia, etc. is a plus;
* Experience implementing USAID or other donor-funded projects in Thailand is a plus;
* Excellent organizational skills;
* Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff;
* A working knowledge of data management using Microsoft Word and Excel software programs;
* High degree of adaptability to varied working environments and good interpersonal and teamwork skills;
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
* Ability to effectively respond to continuously evolving priorities;
* Ability to travel extensively; and
* Fluency in Thai and English language skills (written & oral).
