Development Officer, Northwest Region
Reporting to the Northwest Regional Managing Director, the Development Officer will manage a portfolio of key donors and prospects to meet a fundraising goal, and identify, cultivate, and solicit high net worth individuals for the major donor program. This responsibility involves the development of a priority list of prospects and individual strategies to secure new gifts.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
- Achieve or exceed aggressive annual individual fundraising goal through the management of a personal portfolio of approximately 200 donors
- Identify prospective donors, design cultivation strategies, coordinate cultivation events and visits, and supply proposal and reports to donors, and solicit gifts for UNICEF. Maintain an independent portfolio as well as support the Regional Managing Director in bringing closure to five and six figure gifts. Coordinate with UNICEF USA staff for research on donors and for information on UNICEF projects that may be of particular interest to donors
- Fundraising Events: engage donor support for the Northwest Speaker Series, the annual gala and assist in the production of the events as needed
- Attend and staff Northwest Regional Board meetings, as well as work with the Regional Managing Director to identify and recruit new Regional Board members
- Collaborate with UNICEF USA internal business units that assist the major gift program (e.g. program services, communications)
- Communicate regularly with San Francisco-based Corporate Deputy Director to collaboratively identify potential corporate partners and individual donors in the NW
- Leverage UNICEF Innovation projects through engaging Silicon Valley tech sector (in coordination with appropriate Corporate, Foundation, and UNICEF colleagues) as partners and donors
- Work with Director of UNICEF’s Next Generation to identify and grow NextGen membership in the Northwest Region, particularly from young professionals in the tech sector
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years development experience with demonstrated ability to secure individual gifts of five figures and above
- Major gift fundraising and portfolio management experience, with a proven success record in major gifts cultivation and solicitation skills
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- Must possess a strong work ethic, and be a motivated, enthusiastic team player who embraces the mission of UNICEF USA
- Demonstrated success in facilitating board/staff discussion towards building solicitation strategies and the achievement of fundraising goals
- Must be a team player, and a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who embraces the mission of the UNICEF USA
- Knowledge of the Bay Area philanthropic community is desired, but not required
- Must be computer literate, with experience in Windows-based applications
- Knowledge of donor database record-keeping for major donors preferred
- Should be well-organized and relate easily to individuals of diverse backgrounds and demographics
