Job Description
This activity aims at improving holistic foundational skills learning for children aged 7-14+ affected by crisis in Ethiopia. It will aim to strengthen subnational capabilities to plan and implement education in emergencies service delivery. This activity will also improve quality components to improve learning in Ethiopia such as teachers, learning materials, and school leadership. Learning in Emergencies will strive to increase community and parental engagement in education recovery and integrate mental health and psychological support in education service delivery in the country. This program is a 5-year activity, and the total estimated cost ranges from $25 Million to $49.99 Million US dollars.
The Chief of Party (COP) shall be responsible for the overall management and implementation of the project and work together with the designated USAID Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR). The COP shall supervise project implementation and ensure the project meets stated goals and reporting requirements. The COP will take a leadership role in coordination among USAID, key stakeholders, and other implementing partners.
Qualifications
Education:
A master’s degree in the field of education, international development, or any other relevant field.
Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in managing teams and implementing international donor-funded education programs in developing countries, prior experience in Ethiopia is preferred.
- Technical expertise and experience in the field of education in emergencies and conflict environments is highly desired.
- Demonstrated experience in USAID funded programs that include strategic leadership and proven track record in designing, implementing, and managing program activities.
- Knowledge of USAID regulations and reporting requirements.
- A proven ability to identify and negotiate partnership opportunities and experience managing sub-partners.
- Exemplary management, supervision, communication, and interpersonal skills to ensure internal coherence among diverse team members and productive relations with the host government, donors, and the international community.
Language:
Professionally proficient and fluent in written and spoken English.
