About This Role The position supports ChildFund’s General Counsel on compliance, board governance, international business formalities, and other legal matters related to ChildFund’s global presence. Manage confidential and sensitive information, performs research, maintains files, processes payments, and supports ChildFund’s global litigation survey and annual conflict of interest disclosure process. Works with minimum supervision following established policies and procedures. This is a Part-time, hybrid position requiring 25 hours per week and 2 days per week in the office in Richmond Virginia. Remote candidate will not be considered.
Required Experience and Education
- College degree preferred. Paralegal or other legal experience preferred
- 2 years’ experience supporting legal and/or compliance functions, preferably in an international environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Promote strong child safeguarding practices. Understand ChildFund’s child safeguarding policy and procedures and remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risk.
- Support ChildFund’s international offices and affiliates by drafting and formalizing powers of attorney, registration documents, and other business formalities required by ChildFund’s international offices. Maintain international registration files.
- Assist General Counsel, Board of Directors and President/CEOs office with online Board governance system (“Onboard”). Ensure corporate records are up to date.
- Support ChildFund’s global litigation survey and conflict of interest disclosures. Develop online surveys and assessments, conduct research, and assist with preparation of Board materials.
- Support ChildFund advocacy and lobbying activities. Assist with Congressional reporting of lobbying activity.
- Prepare vendor payments and expense reports, respond to outside requests for information on routine matters. Maintain department files.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Required Competencies
- The ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Teams.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and multitasking.
- Demonstrated good judgement and impeccable confidentiality ethic.
- Spanish, Portuguese, or French language skills desirable.
