Mission contextIn the aftermath of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, approximately 90,000 persons from the conflict area were displaced. As of February 2022, around 26,000 of them currently reside in different regions of Armenia and are either hosted privately or accommodated in collective shelters. A significant number of the arrivals from Nagorno-Karabakh are not able to return safely – even with a ceasefire in place – as residents of territories under the control of Azerbaijan. With its sister organization IMPACT Initiatives, ACTED provides multi-sectoral assistance in partnership with local and international organizations. ACTED’s strategy in Armenia focuses on supporting long-term resilience to shocks while promoting economic growth for prone-to-risk communities.
