The Technical Advisor HEPR is a technical position. The competencies required to be successful in this position include a theoretical and practical understanding of health emergency preparedness and response; the ability to lead or contribute to the technical approach on new business. The HEPR Advisor provides technical advisory services to ensure quality of global health security, outbreak response, and health emergency programming, provides technical input to new business development, contributes to global and country level strategies.
The HEPR Advisor produces technical program documentation and represents the organization in external technical fora to enhance Corus International and IMA’s technical stature and recognition in the public health community, especially for the HEPR/Global Health Security technical area. The HEPR Advisor works as a member of the International Programs Department and sits within the supervisory and management structure of the Health and Nutrition Team of the QuIL Division. The position has responsibilities that require close working relationships and coordination with the Program Delivery Division as well as the Business Development Division and Humanitarian Assistance.
- Work in partnership with Country Teams to implement Global Health Security and/or HEPR programs, including developing workplans and indicators aligned with best
- Collaborate with field teams to ensure technical quality of programmatic reports, including bi- weekly reports, quarterly and semiannual reports, newsletters, websites, and press releases.
- Provide technical support and oversight for Outbreak Response programs/Global Health Security activities and other health emergencies as Ensure documentation and sharing of best practices and important innovations on global health security, pandemic preparedness/response organization-wide, including in the Coordinate with the external relations team and with the country offices to produce communications materials for external audiences.
- Contribute to overall technical vision and support for Global Health Security & HEPR programs and new business development for Global Health Security & HEPR program opportunities.
- Work with the business development team to identify opportunities, engage in representation, networking, and cultivation of relationships with partners, technical donors and other organizations implementing
- Support proposal development, analyzing and recommending bid decisions, and conceptualizing teaming, technical approaches, and cost strategies to maximize competitive advantage.
- Serves as proposal leader and/or technical writer, providing vision and leadership to proposal team, and mentoring and supervising the application of best practices for Global Health Security & HEPR.
- Facilitate Corus International senior advisors, leadership, and country teams to represent the organization to donors, host country governments, project stakeholders, and counterparts in the public and private sectors.
- Support Corus International senior advisors and leadership to develop and maintain relationships with potential donors and partners in health emergencies/pandemic preparedness/global health security.
- Identify opportunities to raise Corus International’s profile in health emergencies and global health security through participation in conferences, strategic meetings, public speaking engagements, and
- Participate in health technical working groups to ensure program and institutional representation in the international health emergency/global health security community.
- Master of Public Health or Masters degree in related field (nutrition, nursing, medicine, etc)
- Minimum of seven (7) years experience in global health required.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience providing technical assistance
- Demonstrated experience working with international donor programs including USAID, CDC, DFID, BMGF, OFDA; experience working with humanitarian and/or outbreak response
- Experience working with host government counterparts, international partners and NGO/FBO/CBO
- Strong English writing skills and analytical abilities
- Second language fluency desirable, particularly French
- Cross-cultural sensitivity required; experience living and/or working in developing countries
- Experience working across diverse teams in a multicultural, multi-linguistic environments
- Able to travel up to 30% of time annually, including to hardship countries. Flexibility and ability to travel on short notice
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
