GIZ International Services is shortlisted for the EU-funded tender: „ Institutional Capacity Building to the Renewable Energy Sector” in Kenya.
The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be part is to contribute to poverty reduction and accelerated and inclusive economic growth, including through a more sustainable and efficient energy sector in line with the targets of SE4All.
The purpose of this contract is to provide institutional and other support to public and private stakeholders of the Kenyan energy sector in the identification, planning and implementation of renewable energy, energy access and energy efficiency projects.
– Coordinating the project:
liaising frequently with all beneficiaries of the support to assess their needs and demands as well as the effectiveness of the provided support with regard to their initial demand;
supervising all experts activities and reports production in a view to maximise quality and impact of the support;
coordinating and staging the inputs of the key experts and non-key experts to maximise their effectiveness;
ensuring proper dissemination of the programme output and communication and visibility activities;
drafting the weekly, 6-monthly progress reports and yearly project implementation programmes;
organising the PEU meetings, Steering Committee meetings and any other meeting needed for the proper management of the support;
supporting MoE in organising meetings with other energy sector public institutions and DPs to coordinate the technical assistance provided by DPs in the energy sector.
– Liaising with the EUD and the NAO on issues of project implementation and to ensure compliance of all activities with EDF procedures
Qualifications and skills
Must possess at least a Master Degree in Infrastructure, Environmental Engineering, Energy or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience of at least 15 years.
Must be fluent in the English language.
General professional experience
At least 10 years of experience in the energy sector.
Specific professional experience
At least 2 years of cumulative experience as team leader of a large (similar budget to theone foreseen in the current contract) technical assistance/capacity building programme to aministry of energy or energy agency or equivalent body;
At least 2 years of cumulative experience in technical assistance/capacity building to a ministry of energy or energy agency or equivalent body;
Previous working experience in Kenya and neighbouring countries will be an advantage;
Previous experience with a SE4All-related programme will be an advantage;
Previous experience in each of the three focal areas of SE 4 All (RE/EA/EE) will be an advantage.
