Job Summary/General Purpose of Job
Manages the day-to-day organization and implementation of projects critical to the operations of the Business Services Group. Supports the Business Operations unit in the management of content licensing and associated royalties, management of author royalty payment, gathering and reporting of financial data, oversight of budgets, and identification and implementation of process improvements across the Business Services Group. Supports processes that allow Business Services Group to grow non-dues revenues.
Principal Duties/Job Responsibilities
Works with other Business Services and ABA staff to coordinate and deliver licensed ABA content to third party licensees and improve related processes. Manages and reports on licensee monthly, quarterly, and/or annual statements, as well as payments and accruals in conjunction with the Financial Services Department.
Manages the allocation of licensee royalty payments to appropriate ABA entity book, program, or activity accounts. Manage and processes reprint permissions for ABA content.
Coordinates and manages the author royalty process for books and other content published by the Business Services Group and other ABA groups as designated. Works with other Business Services staff to ensure collection of necessary documents and compliance with ABA policy. Works with Financial Services and IT staff to coordinate the annual payment process and other specialty payments throughout the year to ensure all
royalties are timely and accurately paid. Establishes procedures to improve processes as appropriate.
Facilitates the overall management and retention of book, program, and other related contracts used in Business Services, including submission to General Counsel as needed. Manages the speaker and author release process for CLE programs and other ABA content and develops procedures to monitor and ensure compliance with applicable release procedures from ABA entities that develop content.
Works with Director of Business Operations in developing and delivering standardized financial and operational reports on all areas of the business.
Coordinates periodic budget review of individual books, programs, and other activities; coordinates monthly/periodic financial accruals, allocations, transfers, and budget corrections to ensure proper distribution of revenues, expenses, and profit shares across relevant budgets.
Analyzes and identifies operational and process-oriented problems and proposes solutions.
Performs other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications & Interests
Possession of a bachelorâs degree from an accredited four-year college or university or an associate degree with equivalent experience.
Previous project management experience.
Previous experience working with budgets and financial data and reports, including experience in providing financial data visually through charts, graphs, etc.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests
Previous experience working in a department responsible for content publication and distribution.
Previous experience working in a not-for-profit, NGO, or Association.
Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., creating pivot tables and charts, creating formulas using VLOOKUP, Index Match, If statements and similar advanced formulas), and creating visual charts and graphs.)
As a normal course of business, this job will typically require travel of up to 5% of the time.
