Senior Technical Advisor- Weapons and Ammunitions Management (WAM)
Location: Roving, from UK or globally.
£83,472 GBP per annum (plus pension contribution if based in the UK)
This is an opportunity to play a key role in MAG’s global efforts to reduce the risk and impact of both unplanned explosions and the risk of weapons and munitions being diverted to the illicit arms trade. MAG has worked to improve the safe and secure storage and management of weapons and munitions for more than a decade, with projects spanning 20 countries
About the role:
This is a roving position that can be based from the UK, or preferably within one of MAG’s global programmes. The Senior Technical Advisor (WAM) will be responsible for ensuring and improving quality, accountability, innovation and learning in the organisation’s WAM technical operations. Reporting to the Programme Quality Director, you will work closely with other members of the Programme Quality Team and wider Programmes team, undertaking monitoring and evaluation missions focused on maximising the efficiency and safety of WAM operations.
The Programme Quality Team consist of highly specialist staff who are all focussed on technical support and innovation across MAG’s expanding WAM programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global organisation at an important time in our history.
About you:
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working at a senior level, delivering large multi-funded projects with a focus on designing and managing WAM projects. You must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of a range of WAM approaches including experience in weapons handling and ammunition management in developing countries to allow you to represent the organisation and develop appropriate relationships and networks on MAGs behalf. You should have familiarity with MOSAIC and IATGs and fluency in written and spoken English is essential as in order to produce high quality written reports for distribution
