The Senior Project Accountant will provide accounting and financial compliance support to ACDI/VOCA field accounting and HQ project teams. The position will closely interact with HQ based project teams and field office accounting teams. The position requires
accounting analysis, development and maintenance of various account reports, ensuring accuracy of general ledger transactions. The position reports directly to the Project Accounting Manager and is part of the Finance and Accounting Department at ACDI/VOCA.
Primary activities include but are not limited to: monitoring field office operations so they align with internal control procedures; reviewing general ledger transactions received from field office and work with field office accounting staff on correction
of any procedures; reviewing project specific field office documents and timesheets; analyzing field offices on outstanding accounts receivable; monitoring field office bank account; preparing field office bank reconciliation; setting up field office QuickBooks
and other financial systems; and reviewing and/or approving project related cash advance, travel expense reports, and procurement invoices.
In addition, this position will involve the review of sub-recipient’s progress on fulfilling cost sharing commitment and payment requests against life to date disbursements and obligated award. This person will also collect, review, and archive sub-recipient
financial close out documents and compile sub-recipient information for schedule H of 990 tax return. Additionally, the role will involve reconciling and closing out project balance sheet accounts upon project completion and assisting with the annual audit
process by preparing account analysis and audit schedules.
Minimum Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; a Master’s degree is preferred. We are seeking someone with a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience to include account reconciliation and General Ledger analysis. Knowledge of USG regulations
(2CFR 200, FTR, and Sub-recipient monitoring) and GAAP is required. Experience working with international US NGO supporting complex programs with multi sites, partners, and funders is required. Additionally, the role requires experience working with multi-media
applications, accounting software packages (QuickBooks), Power Point, Excel, and other Microsoft programs. Demonstrated ability to multitask, work under tight deadlines, and in a fast-paced environment is required. Fluency in English is required; fluency in
French is preferred.
