The Global Fundraising team sparks innovation within PSI by matching risk-tolerant donors to high-impact projects and systems across the firm. In collaboration with colleagues across the globe, we identify and find funding for transformational projects and investments in global public health. We collaborate closely with corporations, private philanthropists, and foundations to conceptualize the future of global health and translate those visions into reality.
PSI is looking for an accomplished individual for the role of Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships, to support and facilitate the development of approaches that test new ideas in global health and drive towards PSI’s strategic vision. We are looking for someone who can apply their skills and experience with a purpose-driven impact lens to drive meaningful change. This unique role works across global teams and sectors, internal and external, essentially breaking silos. You will collaborate with PSI donors as well as programmatic, technical and field teams to facilitate the design of scalable, sustainable projects that test innovations in global health.
You must have excellent interpersonal skills and a knack for motivating colleagues who do not report to you – creating and navigating strong professional relationships and informal networks. We need you to think and dream big but have the agility to zoom from the forest to the trees, and to dive into and manage the day-to-day details. You must be comfortable with ambiguity, leading teams to consensus, and be a self-starter who can run with an idea with minimal supervision.

You will support the Deputy Director, Strategic Partnerships, to work across the firm to lead in the identification and codification of a pipeline of innovative projects that directly contribute towards PSI’s strategic plan. In addition, you will work to identify and facilitate the development of unique and diverse coalitions of partners to respond to pressing challenges that go beyond PSI’s goals and contribute to the larger global health development sector.
You will also support in the following areas:
Do you naturally think outside the box and seek to tackle big global problems? In this role, you will lead in the creation of innovative programs – from the vision statement, to the theory of change, to the outcomes and outputs of specific activities – that can help get us there. You will also identify partners who can contribute to the success of our work either from a funding, in-kind, or other contribution.
You will collaborate across PSI’s regional, technical, and global network of 50 countries to understand the big challenges and the diverse solutions that can be developed into concrete ideas that build towards achievement of PSI’s strategic plan. Experience in areas such as innovative financing mechanisms, social enterprise, self-care, digital health solutions, and reproductive health will be a bonus. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills to both lead a development team and keep multiple stakeholders engaged as we implement complex programs.

Non-Technical Writing & Communicating
Can you take a technical concept and communicate it in a way that the layman can understand? Then you’ve got a translation capability we need. In your discussions with project and technical teams you’ll develop a broad understanding of what they do and how they do it. You will then synthesize all you’ve learned to produce a compelling system change approach that identifies key challenges and potential partners to help address these challenges. Then you will need to communicate these ideas to a potential donor in a fluid, approachable, and understandable way. Consequently, written, visual and oral communications are key in this role as part of your external relations work.
Prospecting, Coalition Building and Donor Relations
Uncovering who can support PSI program goals will be a key skill required in this role. You will have experience in prospecting and managing colleagues to develop and manage prospect pipelines.
You will also have experience in managing complex coalitions of partners that provide funding, in-kind resources, knowledge, and networks to achieve our goals. You will use this experience to support the Deputy Director and lead a small team to ensure partners are integrated into our work to share their knowledge, experience and skills.
You will lead a team of three corporate fundraisers who will maintain oversight of program implementation. You will ensure agreed donor and partner requirements are met and support team members when needed such as when learning requires a program realignment or when challenges arise that require resolution and sensitive communications.

- You have a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study, such as communications, international studies, or project design; an MBA would be a plus.
- You have at least ten (10) years of relevant work experience.
- You have proven success in harnessing investment and partnership for both immediate and long-term impact.
- You have proven strength in strategic, external networking and matching these interests with organizational needs and relevant teams to deliver impact.
- Excellent writing and editing skills and a portfolio of quality written products for a variety of formats (e.g., concept briefs, project talking points, concept presentations, proposals, etc.)
- A strategic mind that thinks laterally and can illustrate easy to understand complex approaches.
- Experience of managing diverse partners towards a common goal and the patience required therein to stay motivated.
- International experience in a developing country and/or an understanding of the pressures and demands of country programs is preferred.
- Experience working on one or more of the following programs would be considered an advantage: reproductive health, digital health, self-care, social enterprise, and primary health care solutions.

- Strong preference for candidates with PSI experience.
