We are looking for a Senior Associate Program Manager (APM) for an anticipated period of four months to help provide operational support to PSI’s programs in Benin, Cameroon, and Niger.
The Senior APM will support PSI’s interests in the above-mentioned countries. Ideally, the Sr. APM should have applicable program management and international experience, relevant language skills, and be capable of thoroughly understanding and successfully implementing international health programs supported by a diverse donor portfolio.
The Senior Associate Program Manager should be passionate about contributing to the health of those PSI serves, enjoy the challenge of linking programs with finances, strive to improve systems, and have a curiosity for why things are the way they are and confidence to ask how we can do better.
The Senior Associate Program Manager will have wide ranging responsibilities working with PSI staff at all levels both in Washington and overseas, providing program management and technical support to PSI’s network members in the Africa region. The Senior Associate Program Manager will serve as the key liaison between the country teams and PSI global services, serving as a champion for the field. The Senior Associate Program Manager is responsible for managing project data collection, analysis, and reporting; coordinating donor reporting and ensuring contractual compliance; and engaging with country teams around strategy and sustainability issues. The Senior Associate Program Manager will pro-actively meet programmatic and administrative needs, juggle multiple competing priorities, and enthusiastically ensure smooth and timely flow of work. The position requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to assume varied duties and projects. This position is based in Washington, D.C. and reports to a Senior Program Manager

Serve as a Champion for the Field
- Serve as the primary contact to country offices and as a liaison between country platforms, Program Manager, donors, and executive, technical, and functional departments.
- Advise platforms on technical, capacity building, development and strategic issues including conducting short term technical assistance visits on as needed basis.
Help Platforms Achieve Operational Integrity and Programmatic Success
- Monitor complex contract compliance issues across a diverse set of donor agreements, including subaward management and monitoring.
- Create/implement project management tracking tools.
- Provide significant financial management support: including preparation and tracking of project and annual budgets and supporting with internal and external audits.
- Pinpoint issues in data collection and reporting and figure out effective ways to address them.
- Support donor reporting process, ensuring quality submissions and document retention.
- Lead cost proposal development and support technical proposal and overall submission for new business as needed.
- Conduct monthly financial reviews across a complex donor portfolio, monitor finances against activity-based reporting budgets, procurement and supply chain management analysis and escalate issues as needed.
- Advise Program Manager and other staff members on relevant issues; keeping them informed of significant developments and issues pertaining to programs or impacting operations overall; and
- Fulfill other programmatic and administrative functions as required.
What are we looking for?
- You have an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject. Graduate degree is very welcomed (MPH, MBA, MIA, etc.)
- You have at least five years’ relevant work experience, including experience in program and financial management.
- You are fluent in English and have professional level verbal and written skills in French. French proficiency required.
- You are passionate about working on international health and private sector issues and are willing to work hard to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
- Developing country work experience required. Two years of prior work experience in a developing country preferred.
- Fundraising and budget development experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, and strong analytical/problem solving capabilities;
- Knowledge of USAID, KfW, Dutch, Gates Foundation, DFID and the international donor community strongly preferred.
- You have advanced skills in Excel, word processing, budget management and monitoring, and data analysis.
- You can perform a variety of tasks on short notice within designated deadlines and keep cool under pressure.
- You can impress us with your attention to detail and timeliness.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. PSI will not consider work visa sponsorship for this position.
- References will be required.
- The successful candiate will be required to pass a background check.
