PATH is seeking a Program Coordinator (Malaria) to support PMI Eliminate Malaria (PMI-EM) Activity Project. The Program Coordinator will support the implementation of the Digital Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) system of PMI-EM and malaria case-based reporting and surveillance (MCBRS) application and the promotion of data use for surveillance.

PATH has an office established in Myanmar in late 2013. The PATH Myanmar Country Program is currently implementing a broad portfolio of activities on various health issues, including infectious diseases, nutrition, vaccines and immunization systems strengthening, digital health and sexual and reproductive health.
PATH’s Malaria, Neglected Tropical Diseases program is a leader in the effort to end malaria illnesses and deaths, refines and develops tools and approaches, invests in national programs, and builds data to empower national governments to pursue malaria elimination. In close collaboration with PATH’s Digital Health teams, we work directly with national governments in low and middle-income countries to select, adapt and scale appropriate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for long term use in their country to address health challenges specific to malaria. Our services span the entire software development lifecycle from supporting analysis of digital health needs to the deployment and long-term use of those technologies. The PATH team coordinates closely with government ministries of health, the information and communication technology sector, other global health NGOs and donors to improve the governance, design, development, acquisition, implementation, and sustainability of digital health technologies and approaches to support our malaria control efforts.
To spur Myanmar (Burma) toward elimination, the new PMI-Eliminate Malaria (PMI-EM) Activity is designed to implement comprehensive, evidence-based malaria elimination interventions and ensure comprehensive coverage in all malaria-endemic villages in four focus states/regions (Kayin, Rakhine, Sagaing and Tanintharyi). In support of the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), the PMI-EM will implement and adapt activities related to case-based surveillance and monitoring, case management, vector control and prevention, coordination, and program management, as well as social and behavioral change (SBC) and adaptation in the context of COVID-19 and other shocks and stressors to the health system.
He/she will support team activities in data management, monthly reporting, and communication. This position reports to the Program Manager of Infectious Diseases in PATH, Myanmar.
Responsibilities
Technical support in malaria and digital health (70%)
- In close collaboration with Digital Technical Coordinator, support the rollout of the MCBRS application in PMI EM areas together with URC surveillance team and in collaboration with WHO and NMCP
- Provide technical assistance to move MCBRS toward an integrated, real-time system with case-based data from public, private, and community providers
- Support PMI-EM team for data management, monitoring, evaluation and learning purposes by applying the DHIS2 platform
- Support to develop a dashboard to enable the strategic program decision-making
- Support for the development of a monthly monitoring dashboard for various surveillance activities to be used at township and Rural Health Center levels
- Support strengthened malaria case notification and surveillance reporting from private health care providers and remote areas with no phone and internet network access
- Provide technical assistance in the development and revision of private sector mapping
- Coordinate and collaborate with NMCP to advocate the private sector in malaria elimination activities
- Develop/ revise the standard operation procedure (SOP) for the private sector involvement in malaria elimination surveillance under PMI-EM areas
- Plan for the talent to increase malaria and digital health capacity and expertise at PMI-EM partners.
Program Communications (30%)
- Develop and manage communication materials from concept to completion, including fact sheets, proposals, blog posts, project documentation such as presentations and reports, and web copy, for assigned projects and the Digital Health Solutions program through research, writing, editing, and proofreading content in line with USAID/ PMI branding and marking policy
- Liaise with in-house and external expert reviewers to ensure accuracy and clarity of technical content
- Project-manage or collaborate on the production process
- Participate in team strategy and work plan meetings to contribute toward the development and execution of the program’s objectives and priorities
