Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm committed to improving livelihoods through market approaches for a broad and lasting impact. The firm is headquartered in Washington, DC with staff working in a number of developing countries. Banyan Global operates seamlessly within six practice areas: gender, youth, finance and investment, enterprise development, health, and evaluation and learning.
Banyan Global is seeking an experienced Agribusiness Policy Expert with solid experience in the Uzbek private sector policy environment for the USAID-funded Agribusiness Development Activity in Uzbekistan. The project will take a demand-driven approach to supporting an agricultural enabling environment in close coordination with other donor efforts, including other USAID programs. The project will directly support implementation of Uzbekistan’s Agri-Food Development Strategy (2019-2030) by assisting the Ministry of Agriculture in implementing this policy and providing support to the Ministry in organizational restructuring and capacity building, including conducting assessments to guide policy reforms.
The Agribusiness Policy Expert will support private sector-friendly agribusiness policies that will help create a market economy that can compete internationally. The project will play a key role in helping Uzbekistan to address legal and regulatory impediments to firm competitiveness so that Uzbek firms are able to remain competitive under open-market conditions. The project will also assist Uzbekistan with improving its ranking on international indices, such as the World Bank’s Doing Business Report, and help Uzbekistan address the underlying issues behind index scores, as well as the broader investment climate issues that are inhibiting domestic and foreign investment in the agricultural/agribusiness sector.
The position is based in Tashkent for the life of the project. Uzbek candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
