RTI was recently awarded a 5 year long contract
from USAID to advance basic education in the Kyrgyz Republic. The Improved
Basic Education in the Kyrgyz Republic (IBE-KR) project will result in improved
early grade learning outcomes in grades 1-4. IBE-KR will achieve this goal
through the following objectives- Objective 1: Improved instructional quality
in reading, numeracy, and math; Objective 2: Improved formal and non-formal
learning environments; Objective 3: A strengthened education system for primary
education. IBE-KR will work closely with the Ministry of Education and Science
(MOES) to achieve project goals.
The USAID-funded “Improved
Basic Education in the Kyrgyz Republic (IBE-KR)” project is currently accepting applications for a
Mathematics Specialist. This
5-year activity will result in improved early grade learning outcomes in grades
1–4 with the following objectives: 1) Improved instructional quality in
reading, numeracy, and math; 2) Improved formal and non-formal learning
environments; and 3) A strengthened education system for primary education.
Successful candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication
skills in English. Position is based in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
In collaboration with
the MOES, the Mathematics Specialist will lead the development of math
modules, early grade math assessment, serve as a key mathematics trainer of
National trainers, design and pilot innovative approaches to math instruction, strengthen
the implementation of coaching model for primary grade teachers. S/he will work
with the MOES to analyze curriculum and provide recommendations for the primary
grade subject standard and curriculum revisions over the life of the

This position will report to the project’s Deputy Chief
Masters degree and 6 years of experience or Bachelors
Degree and 10 years of experience, in Education or equivalent qualification in
related field with experience in curriculum development, teacher professional
development and teaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to work with teachers and school
administrators, NGOs and government agencies in the design and implementation
of education programs.
Prior experience working on a USAID-funded project is
Fluency in Kyrgyz and/or Russian is required.
English is advantage.
