The Knowledge Coordinator Energy & Development coordinates the portfolio of existing Energising Development (EnDev) projects managed by SNV, as well as the development and submission of new EnDev projects. A key focus is strengthening the knowledge and innovation agenda on energy access, in particular related to EnDev’s strategic objectives. This includes gender and social inclusion, as well as productive use of energy (PUE), with a particular focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions in agricultural value chains. This full-time job will include travelling (20-30%) to project locations and EnDev partners.
Coordinates technically and financially the portfolio of existing (EnDev) projects as well as the initiation, development and submission of new (EnDev) projects. Manages the EnDev project portfolio externally and coordinates with EnDev global management. Includes internal and external follow-up on contracting, mid-term reviews, audits, etc.
Knowledge Development and Innovation
Leads on the coordination of internal and external Knowledge development and innovation, in particular related to EnDev’s strategic objectives. This includes the delivery of publications, organization of webinars, workshops, and inputs into strategy development in thematic areas including clean cooking, decentralized electrification, gender and social inclusion, productive use of energy in agriculture, energy access in humanitarian settings, amongst others. Participates in knowledge development and innovation groups and in external and internal networks, ensures lessons learned are shared. May be appointed as SNV’s focal point of expertise networks. Supervises SNV’s internal knowledge networks.
Supports the implementation of EnDev projects in close coordination with the project managers and other related staff of SNV and realizes synergies between projects if and where possible. Responsible for delivery of short-term support and technical assistance in the implementation of ongoing projects (including travel to project sites). Supports the implementation of PUE components in projects, with a particular focus on energy solutions for agribusinesses. Coordinates with EnDev backstoppers as needed.
Review and evaluation of project portfolio
Contributes to feedback processes, coaching and evaluation of achieved results for EnDev projects managed by SNV, leads the collective learning in client/activity team and/or expertise group as an account manager, is responsible for timely and high quality evaluation processes, coordinates the evaluation processes and monitors this with EnDev, proposes corrective measures and lessons learned based on evaluations, and ensures identification of follow up assignments, ensuring planning and coordination as needed.
Builds, maintains, utilizes networks and expands SNV’s relations and strategic partnerships in the sector, including companies, research institutions, universities, donors, etc. Identifies and interprets opportunities/barriers of PUE and energy & agriculture interventions and further develops SNV’s approach and tools in this area. Representation of SNV in selected events.
Leads the initiation, development and submission of new (EnDev) projects. Provides technical input to other project proposals including reviews.
Advises to project managers and country directors on demand and supply of staffing and expertise for the implementation of EnDev projects.
Coaches less experienced colleagues, both professionally as operationally, and coaches associated partners and sub-contractors on quality within context of assignments. Ability to stimulate and inspire project teams.
Cross Sectoral and Corporate Work
Provides inputs into corporate priorities including product development and engages in relevant cross-sectoral products and approaches.
· Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline;
· Proven track record with over 5 years of experience in the sector in an international, multi-country context, including advisory services in the implementation of energy access projects, with a particular focus on off-grid electricity, clean cooking and/or cross-cutting topics including gender, productive use of energy (PUE) and/or energy in agriculture;
· Strong interpersonal and influence skills and experience of working in a matrix organisation;
· Proven experience with knowledge development, innovation and organizational learning;
· Excellent communication (writing and oral), presentation and debating skills with experience in profiling and organization in an international setting;
· Focus on quality and driving continuous improvement of deliveries in the sector;
· Track record in business development;
· International networks within the energy access sector;
· Entrepreneurial, result-oriented and driver for change;
Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required. Proficiency in French is desirable.
Solid sector background and international track record and network in off-grid energy access and cross-cutting topics including gender, business development, productive use of energy (PUE) and/or energy in agriculture.
Strong portfolio and project management experience and project implementation oversight.
Experience in leading organisational knowledge and learning agenda.
Experience in advisory work related to energy access and technical backstopping.
Experience of mobilising resources from the public and private sector.
