Chemonics seeks Freight and Logistics Officers to support our global health supply chain operations. The freight and logistics officers will coordinate and manage the procurement of freight services through 4PL/3PL service providers and manage the logistics process though confirmation of product delivery to the client. The freight officers will assess freight options and obtain corresponding cost quotes for air, sea, or overland freight (or combinations thereof), based on clients’ needs, required lead times, and requested incoterms. They will schedule shipments and arrange products’ dispatch. They will manage the shipment customs clearance processes, coordinating with freight forwarders (including waiver process if applicable) according to the agreed incoterms. The freight officers will identify special or reoccurring delivery problems and work to devise timely and cost-effective solutions. They will assist in addressing urgent stock out or at-risk shipments, follow up with 3PLs, procurement, suppliers, and other relevant stakeholders. Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience managing international transportation and logistics services of pharmaceuticals or other health products, preferably using automated logistics management information systems
- Practical experience in export/import of pharmaceutical products
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in relevant area or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree and/or specialization or professional certification in supply chain and/or logistics desirable
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated integrity, independent thinking, judgment, and respect for others.
- Proficient in English required (working office language is English), proficiency in French strongly preferred, additional languages (Spanish/Portuguese) a plus
