In Mexico, DAI works with the UK government to deliver the Prosperity Fund Mexico Financial Services Strand Programme, through which a series of activities will be developed to strengthen financial inclusion, regulatory improvement and the adoption of FinTech solutions.
Within the Financial Services Strand, Intervention 1 (Financial Inclusion / Education) will positively impact financial inclusion of women and other vulnerable populations, particularly recipients of G2P, through close engagement with public and private partner participants of the financial sector ecosystem including commercial banks, development banks, regulated popular savings and credit cooperatives (SOCAPs) and regulated non-bank deposit taking financial entities (SOFIPOs), and FinTech firms. Our educational approach includes not only women G2P recipients, but also youth, indigenous and other vulnerable populations such as elderly without access to pensions. It centres around improving access and agency for women and other vulnerable groups. This involves delivering a range of activities designed to increase not only the number people within these populations who report increased access to and use of financial products and services, but also those reporting greater agency, indicating increased decision-making about expenditures, mobility and time-use.
The Financial Inclusion officer will support the Financial Inclusion & Education team (Intervention 1) based in Mexico City on the different activities and necessities related to the intervention (I1), she/he will build and follow up the generated data of the intervention from the diverse strategies, the contribution will focus also, in some cases, with field visits with the intervention lead or the intervention manager. Within her/his activities will be the follow up and support of processes related with the operation.
The officer will have a significant participation as desk researcher for the I1 studies and analysis and also will participate on the field research activities when needed. Flexibility, adaptation and availability to travel are required for this position. The foresee activities for the officer will be:
- Research collaboration for the I1 team
- Creation and follow up of operational data for the I1
- Documentation of activities developed by I1
- Operative and implementation support
- Support on the format fulfil for Monitoring Research Evaluation and Learning (MREL)
- Other activities related with the I1 objectives
Competencies and Skills
We are looking for a proactive professional, with at least 3 years’ experience working with: Financial Inclusion, Gender, Education Projects, researching, operations and implementation processes working in field with vulnerable populations. The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop strong relationships with stakeholders from private and public sector.
It is required to have experience on programmes/projects targeting vulnerable populations, operations and implementation experience to support the I1 team and enthusiasm to learn and propose. Essential knowledge, specialisation and/or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Financial Inclusion
- Financial inclusion, social inclusion and/or Education Projects/Programmes
- Experience working in field
- Experience working with/within government
- Operation and implementation processes
- Working with vulnerable populations
- Communication skills in Spanish and English
