MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the finances and accounting of IFES Guyana in line with internal and donor requirements.
- Support the maintenance of office accounting, including funding requests, purchase of local currency, bank account reconciliations, local staff payroll administration and benefit records, petty cash accounts, expense reports, vendor payments, and other financial issues.
- Establish and maintain close relations with local banking officials and tax authorities in order to ensure that IFES is abreast of all compliance issues, as well as banking services offered;
- Ensure proper inventory oversight, control and reporting; issuance of inventory items and supplies.
- Ensure the implementation of safety and security policies and procedures.
- Collaborate closely with and follow all security-related guidance provided by the Global Security Manager (GSM) and the Country Director.

- Manage internal finance and accounting systems and processes in line with IFES’ internal operational guidance and policies.
- Compile monthly wire requests to IFES head office and reconcile each request with actual costs for all programs.
- Compile and submit accurate field office expense reports in a timely manner.
- Compile and submit proper documents to the tax authorities in Guyana.
- Support the subaward management process, as needed.
- Maintain an efficient and transparent financial filing system.
- Undertake financial monitoring of all programs and ensure that staff, consultants, and grantees adhere to IFES financial policies.
- Enter daily accounting transactions into QuickBooks.
- Ensure accurate and secure money handling procedures, including bank account(s).
- Coordinate with IFES HQ to prepare donor financial reports and accruals.
- Perform other tasks and special projects as required by management team.

SKILLS and SPECIFICATIONS: • The ability to remain highly organized while handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines; • The ability to complete tasks with limited supervision; • Excellent reporting and document handling skills; • Excellent communication skills in order to be able to work with IFES program and administrative staff to identify and resolve issues. • Willingness to adhere to all principles of confidentiality. • Must value operating in a collaborative and cooperative environment. • Ability to show initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness.
EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS: • Degree in related field preferred. • Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in administration, finance and/or procurement. • Understanding of relevant donor policies. • Experience with IFES and donor financial reporting regulations; • Experience working on USAID-funded programs. • Experience working on democracy and governance programs preferred. • Training/facilitation skill/qualification is an advantage. • Proficiency in Word, Power point, Outlook and Excel.
TRAVEL: Travel may be required.
