Description
The Director, Global Division Business Development is a part of the International Division and JSI Senior Management Team responsible for overseeing and coordinating the division’s decentralized new business development approach and structure. They serve as the organization’s primary point person for new business development and management of NBD systems. They will work strategically with JSI Centers (Digital Health, Capacity Development, Health Information, Monitoring and Evaluation [CHIME] Health Logistics, HIV and Infectious Diseases, Immunization, and Healthy Women, Children and Communities), ID-Boston Office, ID-Washington Office, division-wide working groups and country teams to identify new business opportunities and support the process from the capture phase, through submission and tracking of awards. Working with staff across the international division, they will help identify innovations and solutions to NBD efforts and disseminate them broadly across the division.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead efforts to both strengthen business opportunities with existing partners (e.g., USAID, Gates Foundation, GAVI) and develop, implement and support strategies to diversify our funding portfolio among other government, multilateral, private sector and philanthropic funders and donors;
- Work with staff across all the international division to adapt or develop improved systems for: (1) capture phase, prior to the release of an RFA/P or other funding notification; (2) the proposal process; (3) talent identification; (4) NBD information systems; and (5) communication and positioning;
- Lead an annual process to determine country and regional priorities for new business development efforts;
- Conduct routine analysis and reporting to division and corporate leadership regarding NBD performance, success and challenges;
- Work with teams during the capture phase to make determinations regarding funding, including in-country reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering trips;
- Manage the development of teams to manage NBD efforts that don’t fit within the Center or Boston structures;
- Be the business owner of the NBD information systems;
- Develop and maintain routine NBD communication activities;
- Actively share best practices with JSI Health Services Division and World Education, Inc.;
- Directly supervise the Senior Global Business Development Advisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in public health, management, pubic policy, business, or related field
- 20+ years working in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of international health projects and new business development
- Demonstrated success in managing USG new business development
- Proven experience in securing funding from foundations, philanthropies and the private sector
- Strong managerial, organizational and problem solving skills
- Technical expertise in one or more public health program areas
- Knowledge and experience working with the international donor community
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to provide leadership and work as part of a team
- Knowledge of and willingness/ability to promote the JSI culture to staff worldwide
- Ability to work in at least one language in addition to English is desirable
- Willingness to travel as necessary
