Position Description
Reporting to the Executive Director and based at the Coordination Centre in Essen, the Development Manager is responsible for global growth and member development, in collaboration with the members of the association. Together with the Coordination Centre staff and the members, he/she is responsible for managing existing mentorships, providing information and services to potential new members of the association and assisting current members with funding and development support.
The Development Manager searches for new growth opportunities and coordinates the structuring of new members of the association, all while ensuring the concept and its quality criteria are maintained. The Development Manager must be available to travel to various worldwide locations as needed for the job requirements.

Duties
The duties of the Development Manager are described under the headings Partnership Development and Partner Support. Other duties may be added or modified as needed once this new post is fully set up and operational.
Partnership Development
- Develop new partnerships with institutions, ministries, NGOs, embassies, companies
- Respond to informational requests from non-members and provide developmental support
- Support international project development for the association
- Develop working relationships with government entities, embassies, NGOs and institutions in countries with no current member and in subserviced regions
- Represent the association at international conferences and seminars
- Develop connections and partnerships between contacts and members of the association
- Carry out quality and financial verifications of potential partners
- Prepare an annual development action plan and report and provide regular updates to management.
Partner Support
- Provide assistance to management in the creation of policies, programs, and strategic direction for new and existing members of the association
- Coordinate the development of the mentorship program including operational goals and objectives, policies and procedures, training support, financing
- Promote the methodology and training concept to international, national and regional partners
- Support association activities including attending management, committee and member meetings
- Ensure compliance of activities and objectives with strategic objectives and quality criteria of the association
- Assist in quality audits and quality improvement assistance initiatives for existing partners
- Submit reports on activities, objectives and results to management and members.
Required Qualifications
- Post secondary diploma in related discipline
- A minimum of 4 years international work experience or experience working with an international clientele
- Ability to travel and maintain mobility as needed at any time
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office
- Experience in a not-for-profit organization is an asset
- Knowledge of education and employment fields is an asset
- Personal qualities that include integrity, commitment, respect for diversity.
Skills
- Excellent in both spoken and written English. Additional languages are a strong asset
- Ability to develop and maintain high-level contacts with government, industry and institutions
- Effective multi-tasking skills and ability to effectively set priorities and complete tasks
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, members and board
- Demonstrated diplomacy, salesmanship, integrity and confidentiality
- Ability to work autonomously and take initiative.
