Position Summary
The Development Associate is a vital member of the fast-paced, high energy Development Division. The Development Associate provides crucial administrative support to the Development team to ensure outstanding cultivation and stewardship for donors and prospects and efficient and effective operations of the Development team, as well as supporting varying Development efforts, including special events. This position may also be responsible for communicating with a small portfolio of donors. The Development Associate will report to a Director in Major Gifts.
Job Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the creation and dissemination of donor solicitation and cultivation letters and other 1:1 correspondence;
- Coordinate travel logistics for Development Division senior staff and special visitors, including in-country team members and grantees;
- Submit expense reports for Development Directors;
- Prepare materials and briefings for AJWS senior staff, special visitors and travelers as needed;
- Provide additional support including but not limited to donor research and other administrative tasks, scheduling internal meetings for members of the Development Division, and managing requests from major donors and board members;
- Utilizing wealth screening and other research tools, conducts basic and/or preliminary research on donors and prospective donors and prepares materials for meetings;
- Liaise with other divisions and departments to ensure smooth functioning of administrative and operational systems;
- Assist in development and entry of annual expense budget;
- Maintaining donor data in Salesforce; generating accurate and timely reports;
- In partnership with Finance and Administration Division, manage accounts payable requests, and expense reports as needed;
- May also manage a small portfolio of major gift donors;
- Coordinate and submit requests for event invitations and promotional materials (including printed collateral and digital media) via the Marketing and Communications Division;
- In collaboration with the Donor Engagement team, coordinate timelines, deadlines, outreach and vendor contracts;
- In collaboration with the Donor Engagement team, plan, organize and coordinate set-up of event materials, food and beverage catering, and any other supplies or equipment;
- Provide on-site staffing at events;
- Provide administrative support for local meetings, as well as other visitors, such as grantees, the CEO, or other staff members.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree;
- One year of experience in an office environment, preferably in a nonprofit setting;
- Thorough knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Powerpoint and Word;
- Ability to self-start, working independently as well as part of a team, on multiple complex projects and priorities;
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills;
- Comfort learning and using a variety of online technologies and applications;
- Professional, enthusiastic, flexible attitude;
- Previous experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM fundraising database;
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for special events;
- Ability to travel domestically.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous NGO/nonprofit-sector experience
- Familiarity with the U.S. Jewish Community
- Strong interest in and commitment to global human rights
Additional Information:
- Salary: $60,000* (Prorated for Part-time.)
*Any employee in this Career Level shall be subject to the $60,000 annual salary floor. - Location: Remote – Contiguous US-Based
*This role is flexible in nature and can be performed from a home office in the contiguous United States. - This role is part time (20 HRS), Non-Exempt
