Country Director, Ukraine
The total package for this position is £66,224 GBP (approx. $82,070) per annum (including basic salary and all allowances)
About the Ukraine Programme:
Since the Russian invasion of 24th February 2022, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missiles and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response. MAG responded to the crisis in 2022 and is now in a dynamic scale up phase having secured funding for 2023/24, and is conducting explosive ordnance risk education and recruiting multiple demining teams. The programme has representation in Kyiv and Kropyvnytski.
About the role:
Reporting to the Regional Director, you will be responsible for the effective strategic, programmatic and operational management of the programme, in compliance with contractual obligations and MAG’s mission and mandate. You will have a wide variety of strategic responsibilities including contract management, donor liaison, people management, security management, capacity building and risk management. This senior role will provide you with the opportunity to use your people management skills, leading a team of international and national staff. You will also have the opportunity to use your skills in stakeholder management, to take a leading role in donor development, and working with a range of national and international actors.
About you:
MAG is looking for candidates with experience of establishing and developing operations and activities in an emergency context, that are able to adapt to the complexities of working in a conflict environment. Experience of mine action programming is preferred but not essential. You should however have experience of leading and managing complex multi-donor programmes, with experience of developing new business and representation to the highest levels. You will also need excellent leadership skills. Finally, the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working in complex political and volatile security contexts and the tact, diplomacy and tenacity needed to lead this programme.

- Salary: The total salary package for this position is £66,224 per annum, including all allowances, and this increases with service.
- Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
- Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You will have a minimum of around eight weeks out of the programme per year.
- Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year
