NRC is looking for a highly qualified Country Director for it’s programmes in Burkina Faso and Niger.
NRC started to set-up a Country Office in Niger in February 2019 and expanded it with an Area Office in Burkina Faso in early June and is now in the early stages of initiating programming.
Are you our new Country Director in Burkina Faso & Niger?
If you are, you would be the key person leading the NRC programmes in both countries. You have confidence and experience with managing and optimizing the resources available in order to move the operation forward in line with strategic priorities. You have a strong understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the different levels and have a proven record of an enabling management style, identifying and growing talents.
You are good at ensuring clear information flow between all levels of the operation as well as between the country operations and the regional office. You are someone who can delegate responsibilities appropriately, ensure collaboration across and you have experience with matrix management.
The position will be based in Ouagadougou with frequent travel to Niamey and to Area Offices.
The ideal CD will be able to take forward decisions to consolidate NRC’s operations, prioritise areas of strategic expansion, and establish a system of governance that secures compliance with NRC’s global policies.
The CD will be responsible for representation and country level advocacy. The CD leads the Country Management Group (CMG) and is responsible for all in country activies, compliance with policies guidelines and procedures, and the safety and security of staff.
We are looking for a CD who has the following skills and experiences:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Senior Manager/Country Director in humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience of working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented/proven results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in French and English, both written and verbal.
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of the context in Niger, Burkina Faso and/or the Sahel
- Experience/knowledge of mixed migrations flows in the region
- Documented experience of advocacy work
- Experience with start-up, exit or similar
