Action Against Hunger has a vision of a world free from hunger. For almost 40 years, across nearly 50 countries, we have led the global fight against hunger. We save the lives of children and work with their communities before and after the disaster strikes. We enable people to provide for themselves, see their children grow up strong, and build prosperous communities. We constantly search for more effective solutions, while sharing our knowledge and expertise with the world. We push for long-term change. We will never give up. Until the world is free from hunger.
Action Against Hunger is launching an exciting new volunteer scheme in your area. With your help, we are hoping to harness local support by establishing Community Champion groups and raising vital funds and awareness for our life saving work around the world.
We are looking to recruit volunteers to be Community Champions. Each Community Champions Chair will be responsible for leading their local Community Champions group, with the help of a Vice-Chair and Secretary, in order to reach a group yearly target of:
- Holding at least one fundraising event
- Promoting Action Against Hunger’s national campaigns on a local level, with a view to recruiting five new participants
- Holding at least one local collection (in a town centre, shop, train station etc.) Each Community Champions Chair will also be responsible for organising monthly group meetings and working with Action Against Hunger to promote the group and recruit new members.
As a Community Champion Chair we are looking for friendly volunteers, with good communication and organisation skills, that are enthusiastic about Action Against Hunger’s work and passionate about helping us work towards a world free from hunger.
Previous experience in fundraising, event organising or working with volunteers would be an advantage for the role, but training in these areas will be provided.
Applications will be reviewed from 9th October 2017 and continue until the position is filled. Early applications are therefore encouraged.
