GIZ International Services is shortlisted for the EU Technical Assistance Facility for Improving Sustainable Forest Management (Forests For the Future Facility — F4).
This project is a multi-country project, whose beneficiaries will be the countries engaged in a Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) process in South-East Asia, Central and West Africa, Caribbean and Latin America as well as developing countries with high deforestation risks.
The purpose of this contract is to establish and manage the Forest For the Future Facility (F4) which will provide technical support to the Commission services (both Commission Headquarters and EU Delegations) and partner countries to ensure sustainable forest management, reduce deforestation/forest degradation, promote sustainable investments and decent jobs in partner countries.
Key experts have a crucial role in implementing the contract. They will need to be able to manage missions combining a wide range of thematic issues that will be much wider than their specific profile.
Key experts will have the responsibility for designing and delivering the technical assistance packages and quality control under their thematic responsibility. They will be in charge of other non-key experts in their domains of intervention and can act as mission or task responsible and lead the non-key expert teams along with assuming drafting roles if needed.
The key expert for communication’s main objectives will be to:
Elaborate or update communication tools, including knowledge sharing products, methodological guidelines or reference documents (brochures, website and IT communication, webinars, cap4dev posts, press releases, newsletters, case studies, lunch time talks, etc.);
Develop training materials and deliver trainings in Brussels and possible regional seminars in partner countries;
Organize, facilitate and/or attend international forums and events on forest issues (global and regional workshops, COP…) and elaborate/implement communication activities;
Take stock and integrate relevant information and scientific knowledge generated through other programmes in the area of forest or sectors that may impact forests;
Promote communication with and participation of forest stakeholders.
Qualifications and skills
University degree in Journalism, Communication sciences, Publicity or Marketing or equivalent professional experience (3 years in the field of communication).
Excellent communication skills.
Fluent written and spoken English and French. Knowledge of other languages widely used in developing countries is an asset.
Sound knowledge of current communication tools and technologies (including social media).
Familiar with professional software for laying out/editing documents and preparing presentations.
General professional experience
At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of communication, organisation of events and learning process.
Specific professional experience
At least 3 years of experience in coordinating and delivering communication and visibility campaigns using various tools, in the field of development cooperation or forest.
Experience in the field of journalism or copywriting for publications, websites and social media.
Ability to adapt style to a variety of audiences, e.g. expert, general public.
Previous professional experience with the development and promotion of methodological tools or learning materials is an asset.
