Asset Development Coordinator
Summary: The Asset Development Coordinator (ADC) provides overall education, planning and support to participants who are engaged in asset development. The ADC will be responsible for mentoring and working with low-income persons in and around Chicago. Programs include but are not limited to Family Self Sufficiency, Matched Savings, IDA’s, Financial Literacy education, and computer skills training classes. Responsibilities include marketing, recruiting and engaging participants, assessment, case planning and limited case management as it pertains to Asset Development and income/education enhancements. Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs outreach to enroll participants in Asset Development programs and to employers and other external agencies to create and maintain partnerships and recruit participants.
- Conducts informational meetings with potential participants to explain program eligibility, requirements and benefits of participation.
- Creates marketing materials to support recruiting efforts.
- Executes and enforces participant contracts in various asset building programs and ensures that each contract contains the participant’s training and service plan.
- Assists participants and, as appropriate, case managers to complete short and long term financial, housing and/or career related goals.
- Conducts income support assessments as needed.
- Coordinates with multiple levels of staff in the Workforce Development & Investment program to ensure participant access to employment opportunities.
- Develops relationships with identified financial institutions and other external agencies and researches new partnership opportunities.
- Develops database of financial information for participants.
- Monitors participant progress in asset building programs.
- Attend Conduct Asset Development education workshops and other industry seminars as requested.
- Maintains appropriate documentation and record of activities, including intake and demographic data collection as well as data required by any funder. Responsible for the accuracy and timely submittal of required reports.

- Education and/or Experience: Bachelors degree and three years working with Asset Development or other social service programs; or combination of education and experience. Demonstrated knowledge or expertise in one of the following areas is required: Career Building, Housing and Rental market, Financial Literacy. Familiarity with issues facing the working poor population.
- Language requirements: A second language may be required. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Computer Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office. Proficiency in Microsoft Access may be required.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, mean, and percent.
- Other qualifications: A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle may be required. Ability to travel throughout Chicago and surrounding areas.
