Rule of Law Initiative
Works independently with minimal supervision and reviews grant budgets, travel expense reports, prepares monthly financial reports for grant funded ROLI and domestic programs. Reviews cost extensions, non-cost extensions, and realignment budgets for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the ABA policies and procedures and donor’s regulations; Processes expense reports for DC staff, Country Directors, Legal Specialists, and Contractors. Submits incoming invoices for payment and performs reclassification of invoices; Monitors in-kind contribution for all grants and prepares in-kind reports; Requests Purchase Order numbers for US and Non-US vendors, sub grantees, and Independent Contractors. Creates and analyzes reports on revenue/spending by funder and region and advises managers of program spending trends, potential overruns, and expense mitigation opportunities. Provides finance-related support to staff and volunteers posted internationally. Maintains internal budgets and ensures appropriate allocation of support costs to active programs. Assists in the preparation and completion of audits; Ensures compliance with applicable procurement policies and proper allocation of costs for purchases. Identifies and investigates erroneous charges and oversees corrections.
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least four years’ experience in finance or accounting; OR, Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least two years’ experience in finance or accounting;
Must have strong communication, interpersonal and general ledger accounting skills, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and business writing and general analytical skills. Previous experience in grant accounting and in financial and/or ERP software solutions preferred. Familiarity with one or more languages spoken in organizations host countries preferred.
